Plight of the Gods, Vol. I has just been submitted for release today and should be out sometime next week, provided there are no issues with the album submission. There are 20 songs in total, which primarily covers the first few chapters of the second book. I decided to slow the pace down considerably to better represent the story in the given songs, so there is a lot more focus on the meeting between Markus and Equalus, and the backstory of Delphineus and Hazile with the creation of the Zenruni. Because the Zenruni is a major focus of the albums to come, I found it fitting to create a better explanation of its creation. The album ends with much of Skiven's population fleeing the continent.

This extension of the album will also improve the pacing of the next one, which I've decided to title Plight of the Gods, Vol. II: City of Kings. Early album artwork will be included on the website to replace "Uncovering the Lost", which will now be Volume III. The second album will allow me to focus on the early goings on of Trilius, the movement and settling in of certain characters (such as Jielgrulf and Meredith), and better coverage and build up of events like the crafting competition or the hunt for the Zenruni (primarily the gathering the future treasure seekers. This should provide a better introduction to characters like Liofel and Felrias as well, paving the way for the third album, which will be entirely focused on the expedition to Tritus. I'm super excited for this part!

The fourth album will cover the aftermath of the expedition, the Zenruni's return to the city of Trilius (changing hands multiple times), some of Nezbaerth's experiences in Hendvlask, and the personal actions of Markus with his experiments and eventual rebellion against the emperor and the Shahar Dynasty itself. The final album of Plight of the Gods will be focused around Rhinesvelt's resurrection/return, the growing rebellion in Trilius, the movement of certain characters away from the city, and the overall conclusion of the story that sets up a time gap spanning hundreds of years. With the conclusion of Plight of the Gods, I will likely go back to finishing the re-release of the book itself, which has been sitting in limbo for two years since I started working on the music.

I have also nearly finished work on the first B-Sides album, "The Forgotten, Vol. I: Omen of the Ancient". This album will have some of the original tracks I view as classics that still seem good enough to stand on their own, along with remakes of past songs as well as alternate versions that I originally had to shelve. The album currently will have 22 tracks, provided I'm allowed to release something with that many songs in the first place. I cannot describe how difficult it has been attempting to slim down the album, even with it currently being 2 hours long. I even decided to remove the original version of "Event Horizon", despite working on that song for a month. Though some of the instrumentals sound great (primarily the melody) and it holds the original lyrics before the song was split in two, I just felt the overall sound quality was not good enough. I worried that if someone randomly started listening to that song when streaming, it would give the wrong impression of the overall quality.

The last bit of work on this album would have been done in a week or two, given where I am, but because of an upcoming trip, this will have to be postponed to later in May or June. I just had too many conflicting goals and responsibilities to get it done in time, and pushing it too soon would only guarantee a drop in quality, which I do not want. Also, when Plight of the Gods, Vol. I gets released, there will be a delay before it gets added to this website. I'm better off not adding it here before the official release, and I have not finished the lyric booklet for it either. This will have to be done after my vacation. Until then, stay tuned. More news to come!
