As I've been working on the music for both Omen of the Ancient and Plight of the Gods, the second album has really had me focus on improving the overall storytelling in the music. Essentially, I'm trying to hit that sweet spot in regards to utilizing the events of the story to create a compelling narrative as well as the required context for later songs. Plight of the Gods is so far the longest album at over 60 songs, forcing me to break it up into at least 3 volumes. Omen of the Ancient is approaching that length as well, as I currently have more than 50 tracks. This is forcing me to change how the songs are organized and develop more album artwork and new story summaries for the lyric booklets. I also need to change how the climaxes are structured in the volumes so that each album is interesting in a unique way.
Since the first album of Omen of the Ancient will now lead up to the Red Dawn (the crash landing of the Imperator) and the introduction of Helskor, instead of the attack on Stalworth, I plan to flesh out the side stories and motivations of the other characters, such as Nezbaerth, Jielgrulf, Cyfel, Equalus (possibly), and Faellis. The second volume will provide more details on Philos's progress with Helskor in regards to expanding his influence, growing the Seeker Society, and starting his great rebellion. I probably have five more songs to go before completion. There are also a few older tracks I still plan to touch up. More updates coming soon.
